Meet Our Founders

Lisa Johnson is a Global Business Strategist and Sunday Times Bestselling author.

She is a trailblazer in the coaching and mentoring space and is passionate about helping others to grow their businesses.

This passion and belief that business is not complicated led to the founding of The Business Success Company with Karen Paylor.

Lisa has featured on numerous TV shows and has appeared in national newspapers and magazines including Forbes, The Telegraph, Psychologies, The Guardian and Fast Company as well as being the money expert for Femail. Her Podcast Making Money Online has been downloaded over 420,000 times, and reached number one in the business podcast charts.

No stranger to online selling, Lisa has had several multi-million course launches, with one launch earning £1.2 million in the first hour of sales.

Overcoming a difficult childhood in social housing led her to be the supportive yet bold, straight-talking strategist she is today, believing that anyone can become successful, no matter their background.

She took herself from £30,000 in debt to become a successful entrepreneur making over £20m and helping thousands of people in just 7 years and now she is giving back by inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

She lives in Bedfordshire, England with her husband and twin sons but spends as much time as she possibly can travelling.

Karen Paylor is co-founder and COO of The Business Success Company and Operations Director for That Strategy Co.

Her career in planning and project management saw her deliver numerous complex corporate projects such as stock disposals, a housing PFI, and she was Head of Integration Planning for a large merger of two housing associations.

In July 2022, Karen was approached by Lisa Johnson to become her Operations Director.

The role was created to utilise Karen’s broad and dynamic skillset, giving Karen the opportunity to play a key role in the operational growth of the business, contributing to a £2.9m launch in March 2024.

Karen is passionate about Project Management.

She is adept at analysing a strategy and outline brief, leading her to assess opportunities, identify risks, improve processes, and deliver timebound and measurable results.

Her corporate roles have given her a deep understanding of managing budgets, team management, planning, processes, stakeholder relationships, risk awareness and she had successfully transferred these skills to the online world where she has learnt to be more agile and more visible, and less risk averse.

What is a franchise?

A franchise is a business model where you buy the rights to open and operate of an already established company. The franchisor provides the franchisee with the necessary tools, resources, and support to run the business. Examples include McDonald's and Molly Maids.

Who is the franchise for?

The franchise is for business coaches, consultants, mentors, strategists, and those who want to add these services to their existing business or start a new and exciting business venture.

What is the term for the Franchise and Licencing opportunity?

The opportunity is for a 3-year term and is renewable thereafter. It is a 3-year term because this is a commitment that you make to the business and a commitment that we make to you. We are passionate about you being in the business for many years to come.

What are the Renewal Terms of the opportunity after 3 years?

Should you wish to renew your contract at the end of the 3 year term you will be able to subject to a 1 year renewable contract and you will pay the the monthly service fee. Eg if we have increased the monthly fee throughout your term you will pay the new monthly fee on renewal, this increase will be linked with inflation costs in business. This may also be subject to an short interview.

What is covered in the Monthly Service Fee?

The monthly service fee covers the running costs of the franchise, such as the support you will receive, your CRM system, the ongoing asset creation, marketing the brand and ongoing business enhancements over the term to ensure that we maintain out market leading reputation.

I have another Business. Can I still invest in the franchise?

Yes, you can have your own business and also invest in The Business Success Company.

Do you have a payment plan?

Yes, we have a payment plan over 6 months, and for a limited period you do not need to pay the monthly service fee until month 7 which allows you time to start to build your audience and business.

What assets are included in the franchise?

These assets are being added to constantly, but we currently already have a large suite of assets. feel free to message us for a list of them as it's updated on a regular basis.

Do I get a website for my franchise?

Yes, we will create a Business Success Company Branded website for you.

I already have a website for my other business, can I still use that?

Yes, you can still use your existing website and keep the businesses separate. You can hyperlink the website from TBSC and add it to your existing website or operate them as separate websites.

What else is included in the franchise?

This is added to on a regular basis, we have thought about close to everything that you need to start this business, please contact us for an up to date list of the valuable offering we have created for our franchisees.

How are the courses delivered?

They can be delivered in a way that suits you and your business. Some franchisees want to launch and run the courses live, and some may want to record the training on Evergreen. The workshops can be delivered in person or online, so the choice is yours, all the information you need is in the Business Success Suite.

Do you operate a territory-based franchise?

No, we don't operate a territory-based franchise method because we believe that this could potentially cap your business potential. The online coaching industry is growing year on year, and we want to support you in maximizing this business opportunity worldwide. We are here to create a greater impact together.

How long would take to see my ROI?

Your ROI is all down to you. Some franchisees may launch a few times and get their ROI; others may operate their franchise alongside another business, existing employment or family commitments. We believe that everyone is individual, and so is their success. We have created a ROI table based on a simple annual launch plan and we believe that you could see your ROI within the first 6 months depending on your input and audience. The average franchise sees a ROI between 18 and 22 months.

I am in a Business Partnership. Can we still join?

If you are in an existing partnership you are welcome to.

How do you help me market the new business?

This is your business, and you will market it in a way that suits you. However, we have a library of assets that will teach you how to grow your audience, feel confident about getting visible and promote your products and services. You will also have access to a selection of marketing materials such as lead magnets, social media templates and a supportive community.

Can the workbooks be downloaded and translated or adjusted for learning needs?

Yes, the workbooks can be downloaded and translated if needed at the franchisees cost. Adjustments for learning needs can be made with permission.

Can I have another website in the CRM system?

No, you will have one website under the franchise branding. However, you can have your separate business website and use the franchise website for upselling.

Who owns the email list for the audience we build?

The email list is owned by you as part of the franchise, but it will be in the franchise CRM system. You can download it if needed and transfer it if you have a robust privacy policy in place.

How much content is released each quarter?

Approximately 3 to 5 new content items will be released each quarter.
